The relatives of the young Dominican Gabriela Hernández, 24, who died in an accident in Lawrence (Massachusetts) on Thursday when the vehicle she was boarding as a passenger collided with another, leaving four other people injured, asked the authorities for a deep investigation into the accident.
Belkis Disla, the victim’s mother-in-law, said this Sunday that the body will be repatriated to the Dominican Republic where it will be buried, and between sobs she pointed out that it has been the hardest blow for the whole family.
The husband said that Gabriela died because God needed her and took her to heaven.
“The moment we are living in is strong,” added the mother in a choked voice.
The crash, according to the Lawrence Police who officially identified the dead yesterday, said the collision occurred at the intersection of Winthrop Avenue and South Union Street, when the 2011 Honda Civic was hit by an Acura. gray from 2006.
So far no arrests have been made and it has been determined who was driving the vehicle that crashed in which Gabriela and her cousin were, who is still in serious condition at Boston General Hospital.
“She came to change our lives,” explained the mother-in-law.
Other relatives said that Gabriela was very dedicated, sincere and open. “In his heart there was no malice.”
“She was very good, she did not deserve anything that is happening and in that way,” they added.
“I myself believe that I am living a dream,” said Disla.
“She was my friend, my secret soul, the one who knew me the way I carried her,” added the husband who had two children with the deceased.
“She went to heaven to do the same work she came to earth for,” said the widower. “God needed her.”
They demanded that the authorities get to the bottom of the causes of the accident.
They announced a vigil at the scene of the tragedy asking attendees to wear white clothes.
